Hello {FIRSTNAME Friends}, I've got a small issue today as not too many questions came in from you guys. Keep them coming and I'll keep throwing the highest quality content your way! What we've got for today: 1. A FREE WAY TO CONVERT PDFs to HTML 2. Q & A 5. ANSWERING ALL YOUR DESIGN AND MARKETING QUESTIONS ~------------------------------------------------~ A FREE WAY TO CONVERT PDFs to HTML ~------------------------------------------------~ Last week I gave you a resource that allows you to convert Microsoft documents into PDFs free of charge. If you don't remember you can check it out in the archives at http://www.helpingfoot.com/newsletter/040406.html Well, if you want to be accessible, you should know that blind people who use webpage readers to navigate the internet can't read PDF documents. And that is only one of the good reasons to have HTML versions of your PDFs. What are some other reasons? 1. Add your own style, flare, (and promotions!) to public domain PDFs by turning them into HTML, and get tons of new, free content to your site! 2. If you like .exe ebooks - they are compiled from HTML. So, you can turn your pdf ebooks into HTML, and then into .exe books if you want to offer that option. Here's the link: http://www.helpingfoot.com/resources/pdfto.html ~------------------------------------------------~ Q & A ~------------------------------------------------~ You asked and I have answers! ~------------------------------------------------~ An Anonymous Asked: "How should you hide downloadable products from thieves?" Well, this is a tricky one. There are a ton of products out there for sale that allow you to hide products, and some advanced ones have been built for people who use ClickBank as their merchant account provider. The secret is, really it isn't that important. If you have the time, what you can do is create a members area that people have to sign up for from which they can download your products - and make sure that you set it so you have to manually approve each member. That way, each time someone applies to be a member, you can first check to make sure you have their purchase receipt before approving them. This way is very effective, but extremely time consuming and only good if you aren't making a ton of sales. A good resource for finding members area scripts (and almost any other kind of scripting you need, for that matter): http://hotscripts.com/ Go there and search for "Download" and you will get 46 variations on free and low cost ways of protecting your downloadable files. If you are really making a lot of sales - don't worry about it! There is always going to be a thief in the world, and they will find a way to steal your product. I consider that anyone who is motivated enough to find my download page deserves the product. A simple way to make it a lot harder is just to make an incredibly long and confusing URL for your download page, something like: http://www.yoursite.com/jfej398640upnfgds90467ewuf092357sdghk30igh.html - that way people will not be likely to remember the URL and be able to tell their friends. ~------------------------------------------------~ ANSWERING ALL YOUR DESIGN AND MARKETING QUESTIONS ~------------------------------------------------~ Well, thats it for this week...
